Job summary

Mission Critical Group (MCG) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design sheet metal panels, structural supports, barriers, and copper bus assemblies for low- to medium-voltage switchgear. You will ensure manufacturability, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration with electrical designs.

Partner with electrical, project management, and manufacturing teams to drive robust designs, prepare BOMs and drawings, and lead continuous improvement to reduce costs and improve reliability

Qualifications

• 3 to 7 years progressive mechanical design experience in switchgear or related electrical equipment manufacturing.
• 3+ years of hands-on sheet metal design, structural assemblies, and copper bus bar design for MV applications.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoDesk Inventor; familiarity with other 3D CAD tools.
• Experience preparing parts lists, BOMs, and assembly drawings for manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, machining, and CNC operations.
• Excellent communication and ability to lead cross-functional design projects.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models and drawings of sheet metal panels, structural supports, barriers, and bus assemblies using CAD software, specifically AutoDesk Inventor.
• Ensure all designs align with manufacturability, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with electrical designers to integrate structural and copper bus elements into customer drawing packages.
• Partner cross-functionally with project management, manufacturing, sales, estimating, and field service to support project execution.
• Prepare bills of materials, assembly drawings, and cut sheets to support manufacturing in a timely manner.
• Reduce cycle time by reusing or adapting existing designs where applicable.
• Contribute to design reviews and process improvements that enhance quality and reliability.
