Job summary

Mission Critical Group (MCG) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop accurate, manufacturable designs of sheet metal panels, structural supports, barriers, and copper bus assemblies for low- to medium-voltage switchgear.

This role ensures designs meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and manufacturing best practices while collaborating with electrical designers and manufacturing personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, required.
• PE license preferred.
• 3–7 years of progressive mechanical design in switchgear or power distribution.
• 3+ years in sheet metal and copper bus bar design for low- to medium-voltage.
• Proficiency with AutoDesk Inventor; familiarity with other CAD tools.
• Experience preparing BOMs and assembly drawings for manufacturing.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, machining, and CNC processes.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models and drawings of sheet metal panels, structural supports, barriers, and bus assemblies using CAD software, specifically AutoDesk Inventor.
• Ensure designs meet manufacturability, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical designers to integrate structures and copper bus elements into drawings.
• Partner with project management, manufacturing, sales, estimating, and field service to support execution.
• Prepare BOMs, assembly drawings, and cut sheets for manufacturing.
• Reduce cycle time by reusing or adapting existing designs.
• Contribute to design reviews and process improvements to enhance quality and reduce costs.
