Job summary

Mission Critical Group in Brookston, Indiana, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design sheet metal panels, structural supports, barriers, and bus assemblies for low- to medium-voltage switchgear. You will ensure designs meet customer specs, regulatory standards, and manufacturing best practices.

You will collaborate with electrical designers, project managers, and manufacturing staff, mentor junior engineers, and drive cost-efficient, reliable solutions across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; Master's preferred.
• 7+ years in mechanical design for switchgear or related electrical equipment.
• Proficient with AutoDesk Inventor and sheet metal design.
• Experience with BOMs and manufacturing drawings.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models and drawings for sheet metal panels, structural supports, barriers, and bus assemblies.
• Ensure manufacturability and regulatory compliance in designs.
• Collaborate with electrical designers to integrate copper bus elements into customer drawings.
• Prepare BOMs, assembly drawings, and cut sheets to support manufacturing.
• Lead design projects and mentor junior engineers and designers.
• Support cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and improve processes.
