Job summary

CMTA, a Legence Company, is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience in consulting engineering. You will design mechanical systems for energy-efficient buildings and guide projects through all phases with a client-focused approach.

The role offers a hybrid work model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) in California, with a salary range of $150,000–$190,000 plus a performance-based bonus. EIT/PE and strong project management are preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in consulting or building systems.
• EIT or PE certification required.
• Strong project management and client interfacing skills.
• Experience with cooling/heating plants and MEP design.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and 3D models for energy projects.
• Attend meetings with owners, clients, or architects as needed.
• Provide guidance on energy-efficient designs for various projects.
• Review submittals to ensure conformance with contract documents.
• Confer with engineers to implement operating procedures and resolve issues.
• Research and analyze customer proposals to evaluate feasibility and cost.
• Specify system components to meet design and performance specs.
• Design, evaluate mechanical products, equipment, and processes.
• Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs.
