Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks a Waterfront Mechanical Engineer to support VIRGINIA Class submarine design and construction. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, design integration, and technical evaluation of proposed modifications for both new builds and fleet maintenance.

Responsibilities include developing technical work documents, interfacing with shipyard teams and suppliers, and ensuring engineering excellence across propulsion and non-propulsion systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical, Marine, or Aeronautical, or Management Engineering.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Master of Science in Mechanical or Marine Engineering preferred.
• Knowledge of SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, FBW strongly desired.
• Experience using SPARS, ELCADD, JCALS, and Teamcenter.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues during design and construction.
• Provide technical evaluation of proposed modifications and design error corrections.
• Develop technical work documents supporting VIRGINIA Class submarines and maintenance of the fleet.
• Interface with internal departments, suppliers, Navy personnel, and shipyard teams.
