Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks a Mechanical Engineer I/II to support test equipment development for nonnuclear ship systems. You will collaborate across design and materials teams, prepare requisitions, and provide rapid deckplate support during construction and testing.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or higher required.
  • 1–5 years post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with submarine non-nuclear ship systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design and materials engineering to update drawings that meet test procedures and ship system requirements.
  • Design or support procurement of temporary shipboard support systems for temporary services.
  • Perform engineering calculations for temporary fluid systems (pressure, flow, stress).
  • Develop broad understanding of shipboard systems to support construction phases.
  • Provide deckplate support to the shipyard test organization for issue resolution.
  • Prepare vendor requisitions and respond to materials requests (VIRs).
  • Travel to QP and Groton facilities for testing and evolutions.
