Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks a Department 498 Mechanical Engineer to design Columbia Class HM&E mechanical systems and hull valves. You will support procurement of materials, installation, and testing on the submarine.

Work with engineers from multiple disciplines and suppliers while performing detailed mechanical analyses and resolving design problems. A BS in mechanical engineering and up to 1 year of experience are typical, with opportunities for growth and advanced training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 0-1 years of engineering experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design Columbia Class HM&E mechanical systems and hull valves.
• Support procurement of materials and testing on the submarine.
• Provide oversight of suppliers and resolve design problems via CNs/VIRs.
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis and validate component designs.
• Interface with engineers, designers, shipbuilders, and Navy personnel.
