Job summary

Meritas Advisory Group, LLC is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer for heavy industrial steel operations. You will work on equipment upgrades, safety improvements, and capital projects that directly impact plant performance.

You will troubleshoot on the plant floor and develop specifications, manage contractors, and lead projects from concept through completion. Experience with steelmaking equipment, reliability initiatives, and large environmental systems is highly desirable; travel may be

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in steelmaking or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, hydraulics, and plant systems.
• Experience with melting equipment and steelmaking operations is a strong plus.
• Experience with large baghouse or environmental systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, improve, and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems across the facility.
• Lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives to boost uptime and efficiency.
• Support melting and steelmaking equipment upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting.
• Provide engineering support for large baghouse and environmental systems.
• Manage capital and facility improvement projects from concept through commissioning.
• Develop detailed project scopes, specifications, bids, and schedules.
• Evaluate suppliers, review proposals, and oversee outside resources.
• Coordinate with maintenance, operations, engineering and vendors to keep projects moving.
• Adhere to budgets, safety requirements, and performance expectations.
• Travel locally and internationally as needed to support projects.
