Job summary

Xona is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own complex mechanical subsystems from concept through qualification and production. You will lead trade studies, contribute to spacecraft layouts, and design flight hardware and GSE, ensuring GD&T, tolerance analyses, and robust interfaces.

You will work with a hands-on, autonomous approach, coordinating across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and payload teams. Mentoring engineers and guiding design reviews are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 7+ years of mechanical hardware development experience in aerospace or high-reliability environments.
• Experience taking hardware from requirements through design, build, and qualification or equivalent verification.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and drawing release using SolidWorks, with disciplined PDM and configuration management.

Responsibilities

• Own complex mechanical subsystems from concept through qualification and production; establish requirements, interfaces, verification plans and delivery schedules.
• Lead mechanical trade studies and contribute to spacecraft layouts and architecture considering load paths, packaging, thermal interfaces, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and integration needs.
• Design flight hardware and GSE; release CAD drawings, BOMs, and interface definitions with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
