Xona in Burlingame, CA seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own spacecraft subsystems from concept through qualification and production. You will lead mechanical trade studies, design flight hardware, and work with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure reliable hardware and successful test campaigns.

The role requires hands-on hardware experience, 3D CAD (SolidWorks), GD&T, FEA, and a track record of delivering complex aerospace assemblies on time.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of mechanical hardware development experience in aerospace or high-reliability environments.
• Experience taking hardware from requirements to design, build and qualification or verification.
• Strong fundamentals in load paths, joints, materials, thermal and optical properties, manufacturing, GD&T and tolerance analysis.

Mansioni

• Own mechanical subsystems from concept through qualification to production.
• Lead mechanical trade studies and contribute to spacecraft layouts and architecture.
• Design flight hardware and GSE; release CAD, drawings, BOMs, interfaces with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Perform structural calculations/FEA; define loads and margins with other specialists.
• Build prototypes and develop fixtures/tests to retire risks; support TVAC/ vibration campaigns.
• Lead resolution of build/integration/test/production anomalies and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with multiple teams on interfaces; identify risks and drive closure.
• Review designs and mentor engineers while delivering hardware.
