Job summary

Xona seeks a Mechanical Engineer to own hardware from design through build and test, delivering spacecraft components, assemblies, and ground equipment. You will work closely with experienced engineers on primary structures, deployable mechanisms, and GSE, shaping interfaces across disciplines.

You will make day-to-day engineering decisions, perform first-principles calculations and FEA, and contribute to design reviews. A strong hands-on mindset and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of professional mechanical hardware development experience.
• Experience taking hardware from detailed design through fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Strong fundamentals in load paths, materials, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned components and assemblies from requirements through design, procurement, build, verification, and production support.
• Design flight hardware and mechanical GSE; create and release CAD drawings, BOMs, and interfaces with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Evaluate design options for strength, stiffness, packaging, manufacturability, cost, and schedule; document recommendations.
