Job summary

Xona Space Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own spacecraft subsystems from concept through production. You will lead mechanical trade studies, develop flight hardware, and release CAD drawings with GD&T and BOMs, working with cross-functional teams.

You will build prototypes, validate designs with structural analyses and FEA, drive qualification campaigns, and mentor other engineers while delivering reliable hardware for this high-reliability space program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Aerospace Engineering.
• 7+ years of mechanical hardware development experience in aerospace or high-reliability fields.
• Experience taking hardware from requirements through build and qualification.
• Strong fundamentals in load paths, joints, materials, and tolerance analysis.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and drawing release with GD&T and configuration management.

Responsibilities

• Own complex mechanical subsystems from concept through qualification and production.
• Lead mechanical trade studies and contribute to spacecraft layouts and architecture.
• Design flight hardware and critical GSE; release CAD, drawings, BOMs, interfaces with clear GD&T and tolerances.
• Perform structural calculations and FEA; coordinate with structural/thermal teams.
• Build prototypes, develop fixtures and tests; qualify hardware and support vibration/TVAC campaigns.
