Job summary

Xona is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our payload hardware team. You will design, develop, and integrate electrical systems that power and control our payload, collaborating with engineers across subsystems.

This hands-on role involves lab bring-up, testing, debugging, and documentation, supporting system integration and test as designs move from concept to flight-ready hardware.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong fundamentals in analog/digital circuit design, power systems, signal integrity, layout, and DFT/DFM.
• Experience with embedded control, architectures featuring FPGAs, MCUs, and communication buses (I2C, SPI, CAN, RS-422, Ethernet).
• Understanding of reliability methods, including WCCA, part derating, and FMEA.
• 5+ years of experience taking designs from schematic to layout, manufacturing, test and system integration.
• Proficiency with electrical design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, Spice).
• Proven lab experience with hardware bring-up, board-level troubleshooting, and test automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and own electrical subsystems such as power distribution, communication, and fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR).
• Develop PCBAs and test components to survive space conditions.
• Lead the full design cycle from concept through schematic capture, layout, and reviews.
• Bring up and troubleshoot electrical systems in the lab using test equipment.
• Document designs and create electrical interface documents for satellite subsystems.
• Support integration and test across assembly, integration, and system-level validation.
