Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own PMAD enclosure packaging from concept to flight, driving thermal paths, card retention, connectors, and serviceability. You will lead design trades, mentor engineers, and influence manufacturing yield and cost at high production rates.

This senior role requires Creo CAD, FEA, GD&T expertise, and experience taking hardware through environmental qualification and production release.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 7+ years designing ruggedized electronic enclosures or high-reliability avionics packaging.
• Experience with static, modal, vibration and shock analyses using FEA.
• 3D CAD modeling in Creo with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience taking hardware from prototype through qualification and production.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible status for export-controlled data access.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of the PMAD enclosure from concept to production release.
• Define mechanical requirements and interfaces with systems, electrical, thermal, and manufacturing teams.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and technical drawings.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses and report margins.
• Lead design trades and document decisions for packaging architecture.
• Build prototypes, create assembly aids, and support environmental testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and review designs and documents.
