Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and develop advanced hardware systems. You will conduct structural and thermal analyses, maintain CAD models and BOMs, and work across cross‑functional teams to ensure manufacturability and robust performance.

The role requires 7+ years in mechanical hardware development, strong documentation skills, and experience with GD&T and design for manufacturability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of mechanical design and hardware development experience.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX).
  • Experience with structural and thermal analyses (analytical or FEA).
  • Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with manufacturability, materials selection, and design for manufacturability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical hardware components and assemblies for complex systems.
  • Perform structural and thermal analyses to validate performance requirements.
  • Develop CAD models, drawings, and BOMs per program standards.
  • Support hardware integration, testing, and reviews.
  • Collaborate with systems, electrical, and manufacturing teams on interfaces.
  • Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Apply GD&T to ensure proper fit, form, and function.
