Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for space hardware. You will address electronics packaging, thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC, and GD&T while collaborating with electrical engineers across the product lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have extensive CAD/FEA experience (SolidWorks, Ansys), CNC manufacturing exposure, and strong communication skills to support design reviews and customer interactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in design and analysis of avionics or ruggedized embedded electronics packaging, including thermal, vibration, and stress dynamics or in aircraft structures and mechanisms.
• Familiarity with electronics assemblies and experience working closely with electrical engineers.
• Familiarity with design for test, manufacturability, assembly, and reliability.
• Experience with CAD software packages, such as SolidWorks.
• Experience with professional mechanical and FEA CAD tools, such as Ansys.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing.
• Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems for CesiumAstro products through all phases of development.
• Present engineering design review materials to customers and leadership.
• Contribute to proposal-writing efforts and assist with qualification testing.
