Intuitive Surgical, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to next-generation robotic instruments on the Future Forward team.

You will address mechanical, electromechanical, and robotic system design across the product lifecycle, from concept to validation, partnering with cross-functional teams. The role demands 6+ years in mechanical design, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks), and excellence in developing precise, manufacturable solutions for medical devices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent).
• Minimum 6 years designing mechanical engineering products (medical devices preferred).
• Expertise in high-precision mechanisms, electromechanical systems, and tolerance stacks.
• Driven to take product ideas from concept to launch in regulated environments.
• Strong fundamentals: FEA, GD&T, materials, reliability and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robotic surgical instruments within a cross-functional team.
• Translate user requirements into design solutions and prototypes; conduct testing.
• Create product requirements and functional specs for safety and durability.
• Document manufacturing processes, BOMs, drawings, and testing protocols.
• Lead technical reviews, risk analyses, and regulatory activities.
