Job summary

Intuitive Surgical designs and manufactures highly complex mechanical systems for use in surgery. The Mechanical Engineer will develop, document, and validate new product designs, while improving existing designs to meet customer needs in a fully onsite environment.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, create architectures for next-generation instruments, and develop fixtures for verification and validation across production levels, including DFMEA and FDA documentation.

Qualifications

• BSME with 8 years’ experience, MSME with 6 years’ experience or PhD with 3 years’ experience (preferred).
• Proficiency in mechanical design of components, mechanisms, linkages, and gears.
• Experience with design for manufacturability and reliability.”
• Experience with DoEs and statistical review is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, document and validate new product designs and improve existing ones.
• Create product architectures for next-gen reusable/disposable instruments.
• Develop testing fixtures for verification/validation on production components.
• Collaborate with suppliers to optimize DFMs for high-volume manufacturing.
• Develop Design History Files per FDA requirements and support NPI in initial builds.
