Job summary

Quantinuum in Broomfield, CO is seeking an Advanced Mechanical Engineer to own the physical design and controlled product definition of next-generation quantum computing systems. You will lead system integration, define mechanical interfaces, and maintain CAD assemblies, drawings, BOMs, and configuration-controlled documentation through transitions from research to production.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 6+ years of related experience, with U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• +6 years of related work experience.
• U.S. Person eligibility (citizenship/green card required).
• Not a PRC or Russian national unless US citizen.

Responsibilities

• System-level mechanical design of the quantum computer and the physical environment.
• Develop equipment layouts, interfaces, enclosures, and room-level space plans.
• Define mechanical interfaces across optical, electrical, thermal, vacuum, and facility systems.
• Allocate mechanical requirements down to subsystems.
• Create and maintain top-level CAD assemblies, drawings, interface definitions, BOMs, and related documentation.
• Work with larger engineering team to maintain system product structure, revisions, and configurations.
• Design system enclosures and external features balancing performance, manufacturability, serviceability, safety, and industrial design.
• Resolve packaging and interface conflicts across multidisciplinary teams.
• Support prototype builds, capture as-builts, and drive updates through release processes.
• Promote CAD, PLM, naming, product-structure, and configuration-control practices.
