Job summary

Agile Space Industries seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, prototype, and produce advanced rocket engines and propulsion systems in Seattle, WA or Durango, CO. You will join multi-disciplinary teams delivering high-performance hardware and supporting fast-paced development.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical design, materials, and fluid engineering, with hands-on assembly, testing, and collaboration across internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proven experience presenting to customers during design reviews.
• Strong design background with mechanics of materials and fluid engineering principles.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling with ASME Y14.100 drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T principles and techniques.
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Experience developing hardware through manufacturing processes.
• Experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with tight timelines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop components and assemblies for chemical rocket systems, including concept creation, CAD design, and BOM.
• Lead and coordinate design review sessions (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR) with cross-functional teams.
• Perform structural, thermal, and fluid analysis (hand calculations).
• Oversee vendor selection and smooth transition to operations.
• Develop detailed work instructions for assembly, integration, testing.
• Hands-on hardware assembly, testing, data analysis, and reporting.
• Identify and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Facilitate communication between customers, internal teams, and suppliers.
