Job summary

WSP USA in New York, NY is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager to lead mechanical engineering efforts on infrastructure, building, and construction projects within the Property and Buildings Team. You will provide technical guidance from design through commissioning and support due diligence, planning, installation, operation, and optimization of HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing systems.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, data analysis, and clear documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years of post-education engineering experience with mechanical design exposure.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design/build, and project applications.
• Experience with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
• Ability to coordinate with regulators and understand requirements.
• Familiarity with codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, and tools including AutoCAD and CAM.
• Master’s degree and essential licensure are preferred.
• Experience managing small to mid-size projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, compile, and analyze data from site, surveys, blueprints and reports for project development.
• Conduct engineering work and inspect site conditions to ensure conformance with standards.
• Apply modeling techniques and design requirements for proper installation and operation of systems.
• Provide technical assistance on automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and planners to execute project work and lay out equipment installations.
• Prepare data visualizations, tables, charts, and technical drawings for reports.
• Maintain quality control and assist in scoping small-to-medium projects.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to address design or construction issues.
• Perform site surveys and plan for future needs.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance in all analyses.
