Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for the New York, NY office to guide the design and implementation of mechanical systems across infrastructure and building projects. You will oversee HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing disciplines, coordinating with cross-functional teams and clients to meet safety and performance standards.

Ideal candidates have 7–10 years of post-education experience, a professional engineering license, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7–10 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Professional engineer license required.
• Proficiency in mechanical engineering design and analysis.
• Strong knowledge of building/infrastructure design and codes.
• Experience in rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects.
• Understanding of environmental and safety compliance.
• Ability to perform calculations and interpret plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level technical guidance for multi-site mechanical systems.
• Lead design, planning, installation, and operation of HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Manage cross-functional teams through budgets, timing, and resources.
• Coordinate with owners, sub-consultants, and clients for approvals.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and data visualizations.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and QA/QC.
• Stay current with mechanical engineering practices and technologies.
