Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical system design on complex commercial and institutional projects in Texas. You will coordinate a multidisciplinary team, engage with clients, and ensure code-compliant, high-quality documentation.

The role requires a PE license, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and 10+ years of experience, with strong AutoCAD, MS Project, and Microsoft Office skills. HDR champions employee ownership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 10 years of mechanical system design experience in commercial or institutional buildings.
• Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng.) license.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination and project management experience.
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical engineering work across a multidisciplinary project team.
• Establish client relations and participate in meetings on mechanical systems.
• Lead mechanical aspects on projects.
• Participate in code compliance reviews with authorities having jurisdiction.
• Conduct site-based design sessions with PM, Project Architect and others.
• Coordinate workload to meet project schedules.
• Monitor project finances and adjust team efforts to stay on schedule.
• Collaborate with PM, Regional Controller, and Regional Director for reviews.
• Perform other duties as required.
