Job summary

SmallHD is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Cary, NC. This hands-on role covers full product lifecycle from concept through manufacturing, focusing on designing mechanical systems for professional display equipment.

You will lead design, prototyping, testing, and collaboration with electrical, firmware, manufacturing and product teams. A strong background in CAD, 2D/3D design, and manufacturing processes is essential, plus leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, product development, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software and mechanical drafting tools.
• Ability to design using 2D and 3D engineering software.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience conducting engineering testing, experiments, and design validation.
• Ability to translate technical data into practical engineering solutions.
• Design for manufacturability, reliability, and product performance.

Responsibilities

• Perform full lifecycle mechanical product development from design to manufacturing.
• Design mechanical systems, assemblies, and components to meet specs.
• Develop 2D/3D concepts using CAD tools and evaluate prototypes.
• Conduct experiments, analyze data, and inform design decisions.
• Test and evaluate designs for performance, durability, and safety.
• Identify issues and devise effective manufacturing solutions.
• Support transition of new products into production.
