Job summary

Torch Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Principal Investigator to lead design, analysis, and integration of complex mechanical systems for defense programs. The role is on-site in Huntsville, Alabama, with leadership responsibilities across mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams.

Requirements include U.S. citizenship, 10+ years of experience (or 8+ with a Master’s), active clearance, and proficiency with SolidWorks and FEA tools.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required.
• 10+ years' experience with a Bachelors or 8+ with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Active security clearance.
• Experience leading engineering teams and technical projects.
• Proficient with SolidWorks, PDM, and FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation, NASTRAN).
• Strong grasp of machine design, structural mechanics, materials, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of mechanical systems and structures from concept through production.
• Provide technical oversight for analyses (structural, dynamic, thermal, fatigue) and reviews.
• Coordinate cross-disciplinary engineering efforts and manage schedules and budgets.
• Develop technical content for proposals, reviews, and customer briefs.
• Support design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and production transition activities.
