Generac Power Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead new product development for industrial energy products from concept through implementation.

The role sits in the Structures and Enclosures team, focusing on generator base frames, enclosures, fuel tanks, exhaust systems, and trailers, with emphasis on weather-protective or sound-attenuated enclosures and machine packaging. The position requires a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with weather-protective or sound-attenuated enclosures.

Responsibilities

• Lead new product development from design and concept through validation, testing, and implementation.
• Develop product requirements and evaluate designs for performance, cost, reliability, risk, and safety.
• Create and execute product testing, specifications, validation plans, BOMs, and material/part specifications.
• Partner with Manufacturing, contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability and production.
• Utilize 3D CAD and CAE tools to develop models, detailed designs, and engineering drawings.
• Support overall project execution, including schedules, product cost targets, and achievement of design requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers and travel to other facilities as needed.
