Generac Power Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead new product development for industrial energy products from concept through implementation.

The role sits in the Structures and Enclosures team, focusing on generator base frames, enclosures, fuel tanks, exhaust systems, and trailers, with emphasis on weather-protective or sound-attenuated enclosures and machine packaging. Responsabilidades

• Lead new product development from design and concept through validation, testing, and implementation.
• Develop product requirements and evaluate designs for performance, cost, reliability, risk, and safety.
• Create and execute product testing, specifications, validation plans, BOMs, and material/part specifications.
• Partner with Manufacturing, contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability and production.
• Utilize 3D CAD and CAE tools to develop models, detailed designs, and engineering drawings.
• Support overall project execution, including schedules, product cost targets, and achievement of design requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers and travel to other facilities as needed.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a senior-level role based out of our Sussex, WI office leading new product development for industrial energy products, taking complex mechanical designs from concept through implementation while partnering across engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, and service. The position sits within the Structures and Enclosures team, with a focus on generator base frames, enclosures, fuel tanks, exhaust systems, and trailers, and is especially well suited for someone with experience designing weather-protective or sound-attenuated enclosures or machine packaging.

Responsibilities

• Lead new product development from design and concept through validation, testing, and implementation.
• Develop product requirements and evaluate designs for performance, cost, reliability, risk, and safety.
• Create and execute product testing, specifications, validation plans, bills of materials (BOMs), and material/part specifications.
• Partner with Manufacturing, contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability and production.
• Utilize 3D CAD and CAE tools to develop models, detailed designs, and engineering drawings.
• Support overall project execution, including schedules, product cost targets, and achievement of design requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers and travel to other facilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 5+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in new product design and development.
• Experience with machine design.
• Experience designing with materials including sheet metal and structural steel.
• Ability to perform detail oriented work with a high degree of accuracy on multiple projects.
• Design experience with, and basic knowledge of material specs and use.
• Design experience with weather protective and/or sound attenuated enclosures, or machine packaging including; airflow, heat mitigation, sound attenuation, and water ingress prevention.
