Job summary

Generac Power Systems Inc. is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer III to lead design, validation, and implementation of generator set products.

You will work with cross‑functional teams across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Service, and Marketing to deliver reliable, cost‑effective solutions. The role requires a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 5+ years with SolidWorks or Creo, and strong CAD/analysis skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with SolidWorks or Creo.
• Experience with 3D CAD modelling and engineering design software (Creo or SolidWorks).
• Experience performing engineering analyses using FEA or CFD.
• Knowledge of machine design and materials (plastics, sheet metal, cast).
• Strong project management, analytical problem solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication.
• Experience in cross‑functional teams with manufacturing, quality, sourcing and operations; ERP experience with SAP.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, validation, and implementation of new products and genset modifications.
• Define technical requirements and develop solutions balancing performance, cost, reliability, safety, and manufacturability.
• Use CAD and analysis tools to create designs, drawings, and documentation.
• Plan and execute testing, validation, and risk assessment to meet requirements.
• Create and maintain product specs, BOMs, and material requirements for development and manufacturing.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, service, and external partners to optimize designs.
• Lead and support cross‑functional projects, providing technical guidance and solving issues.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and drive continuous improvement across products and processes.
