Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Power district, focusing on detailed design for large utility-scale power plants. You will develop complex piping, P&IDs, and equipment specifications, lead design efforts, and mentor junior engineers.

A PE license or active licensure, strong leadership, and a commitment to safety are required. This role supports projects across North America and may require travel; Houston office is among potential bases, with multiple office locations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering design experience in power generation.
• Current PE license or in the licensing process.

Responsibilities

• Perform high complexity engineering design for EPC projects.
• Develop mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for power plant systems.
• Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment.
• Prepare design deliverables, procurement packages, and vendor evaluations.
• Lead design projects or parts of projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, and engineers to ensure progress.
