Job summary

Audubon is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Associate, Senior to join our Metairie, LA office. You will perform mechanical engineering assignments involving designing equipment, components, structures or systems and lead multi-discipline projects.

The role requires extensive experience with piping systems, process equipment, and design codes, and involves site visits, vendor reviews, and coordination with clients and consultants. Strong communication and project-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• ABET-accredited degree preferred.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Field experience required.
• Liquefaction or hydrogen experience preferred but not required.
• Industry experience required.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience preferred.
• Medium/large multi-discipline project lead experience preferred.
• Caesar II, NozzlePRO and PIPE-FLO experience preferred.
• Knowledge of piping systems and process equipment design.
• Knowledge of piping codes (ASME, API) preferred.
• Strong problem solving and team-based communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare intermediate to advanced level specifications detailing performance requirements, components, design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
• Prepare sketches, perform calculations, and develop analysis models for complex projects.
• Review/approve vendor drawings for compliance with specs.
• Interact with clients, subcontractors, vendors and consultants.
• Set realistic expectations and ensure projects meet schedule and budget.
• Adhere to quality standards and design control procedures.
• Comply with HSSE standards and regulations.
• Identify and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Collaborate with drafting/design to develop and review drawings.
• Visit job-sites to evaluate requirements and conditions.
• Inspect equipment at vendor facilities for compliance.
• Prepare inquiries and purchase requisitions; bid tabulations.
• Perform checks of drawings and calculations.
• Plan and manage workload, budgets and resources.
• Develop design packages and guidelines.
• Assess feasibility using material, cost, and time analyses.
• Utilize complex and repetitive calculations.
• Prepare reports and schedules for projects.
• Analyze strategies to ensure proper procedures are used.
• Resolve design and development issues.
• Manage client relationships and pursue repeat business.
• Estimate man-hours and total installed cost; forecast schedules.
