Job summary

HPM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to serve as a key technical advocate for municipal, commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. You will provide design strategy, preliminary design, peer review of EOR packages, and risk mitigation from project inception through commissioning.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Active PE license.
• 10–15+ years of total experience with detailed design (consulting/EPC) plus owner representation, PM, or facilities operations.
• Strong background in industrial plant utilities, process piping, heavy HVAC/chilled water, boilers, and building controls (BAS/BMS).
• Expert knowledge of codes (ASHRAE, IBC, NFPA, ASME).
• Strong technical writing and executive presentation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design Oversight & EOR peer review of mechanical deliverables (HVAC, piping, equipment, fire protection).
• Identify scope gaps, over-design, constructability, and code risks before bid packages.
• Lead value engineering workshops with Owners, Architects, and GC teams.
• Draft and evaluate RFPs for EORs, specialty engineers, and commissioning agents.
• Perform site audits and oversee commissioning to meet owner standards and performance criteria.
• Serve as neutral technical escalation point in design disputes among Owner, GC, and EOR.
