Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (FMP) seeks an experienced engineer to advance dry storage of spent nuclear fuel. You will develop controls, procedures, and tooling while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.

The role emphasizes safety, process improvement, and accurate documentation across environmental programs and regulatory frameworks. A strong background in engineering and demonstrated writing skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering or science field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Doctorate in a related technical field.
  • Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering controls, work procedures and supporting documents for dry storage of spent nuclear fuel.
  • Provide engineering support to ensure compliance with engineered work products and updates to procedures as needed.
  • Design tooling, radiological containments, and safety equipment for spent fuel packaging production.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Develop plans and reports and perform environmental characterization and investigations per local and federal programs.
