Job summary
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) New Fuel and Exams unit is seeking a mechanical engineer to join our team. The newest team member will formulate design solutions to complex problems, may complete finite element analyses (FEA), and will conduct analytical assessments of reactor servicing equipment.
This position provides the opportunity to develop mechanical design expertise while interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines, which are part of the larger team that supports safe movement
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical/engineering or science field with 4+ years of experience; or
- Master's degree in a related field with 2+ years of experience; or
- PhD in a related field; or
- Current Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or RPCO Engineer at the Company.
Responsibilities
- Formulate design solutions for complex mechanical problems.
- Perform finite element analyses (FEA) and analytical assessments of reactor servicing equipment.
- Interface with multiple engineering disciplines to support safe movement and transportation of Naval nuclear fuel.
