Job summary

PTS Advance is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC design for commercial and institutional projects in San Antonio. You will own design tasks, coordinate with architects and other engineers, and help shape project outcomes.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 8+ years of HVAC/MEP experience, proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, and strong communication skills. PE license is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of mechanical/HVAC engineering experience within an MEP consulting or building design environment.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical codes, and building design principles.
  • Experience designing mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, K-12, municipal, industrial, or similar facilities.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to independently develop mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative environment.
  • PE license is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform mechanical/HVAC design for commercial and institutional building projects.
  • Develop HVAC systems from conceptual design through construction documents.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations and equipment selections.
  • Design and coordinate air distribution, hydronic piping, ventilation, exhaust, and other mechanical systems.
  • Prepare mechanical plans, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Review project requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, and other disciplines.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate directly with clients, contractors, architects, and internal project teams.
  • Review drawings and submittals and provide technical support throughout construction administration.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and overall project delivery.
  • Utilize Revit and AutoCAD to develop and coordinate mechanical designs.

Position Overview

An established and growing engineering firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its MEP consulting team.
