Job summary

Leonardo DRS in High Ridge, MO is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead development of marine, water-cooled chiller systems. You will drive new product design, support legacy systems, and collaborate across engineering to meet customer specifications for defense and commercial markets.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience in centrifugal water-cooled chillers, HVAC&R performance prediction, and strong technical documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing centrifugal water-cooled chiller systems and understanding their operation.
• Experience leading engineering projects, especially developing new systems.
• Knowledge of standards and LGWP refrigerants used in HVAC&R systems.
• Engineering or design experience with mechanical equipment, assemblies and components.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support projects in the development of marine chiller systems including centrifugal compressor systems.
• Engineering of HVAC&R equipment for component sizing, selection, and performance predictions.
• Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.
• Participate in supplier scouting, evaluation and engagement activities in support of new projects.
• Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services.
• Investigate and recommend solutions to product or process problems.
• Support development of product designs, manufacturing drawings, bills of material and associated supporting documentation for fabrication and delivery of products and prototypes.
• Review customer specifications and requirements in support of bids and proposals and develop compliant designs for product development.
• Develop technical documentation, manuals, and procedures.
