Job summary

Leonardo DRS, Inc. in High Ridge, MO seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC&R project development for commercial and defense markets, including heat exchangers and air handling systems.

You will drive new product development, support legacy designs, and ensure robust documentation and testing. Responsibilities include managing projects, collaborating with suppliers and customers, sizing components, and delivering compliant designs and technical manuals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years leading engineering projects, especially NPD/R&D.
• Experience with mechanical equipment, assemblies and components.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Lead projects for development and support of mechanical equipment, HVAC&R systems.
• Manage project schedule, cost, resources, and communications.
• Evaluate design approaches to meet production needs and investigate solutions.
• Engineer HVAC&R equipment sizing, selection, and performance predictions.
• Specify and evaluate supplier components and services; participate in supplier scouting.
• Ensure on-time project execution with internal/external teams.
• Develop production drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation.
• Review customer specs and develop compliant designs for bids.
• Develop technical documentation, manuals, and procedures.
• Support testing, qualification, documentation and analysis of prototypes.
