Job summary

Leonardo DRS, Inc. in High Ridge, MO, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC&R product development for commercial and defense markets.

You will guide projects from concept through validation, size components, select suppliers, and prepare manufacturing drawings and BOMs for heat exchangers, air handling, and refrigeration systems. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of project leadership (NPD/R&D), and strong technical writing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• At least 5 years leading engineering projects, especially new product development (NPD) or R&D.
• Experience with mechanical equipment, assemblies and components including machined parts, welded structures and sheet metal.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to produce technical reports.
• Proficient using MS Office and engineering drawing tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects for development and support of mechanical equipment including HVAC&R systems.
• Manage project schedule, cost, resources and communication with customers.
• Evaluate design approaches to meet production requirements and investigate solutions.
• Engineer HVAC&R equipment sizing, selection and performance predictions; create documentation.
• Specify supplier components; participate in supplier scouting and engagement.
• Ensure on-time project execution with internal/external teams.
• Develop manufacturing drawings, BOMs and supporting documentation.
