Job summary

Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead projects and develop HVAC&R product designs for both commercial and defense markets including heat exchangers, air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling systems. This role will drive new product development, support legacy products, size and select components, and create documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering projects (NPD/R&D) and providing status updates on progress, budgets, and schedule.
• Experience with mechanical equipment, assemblies, machined parts, welded structures, and sheet metal components.
• Strong writing and creation of technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects developing HVAC&R equipment including heat exchangers, air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling systems.
• Manage project schedule, cost, resources, and customer communications.
• Evaluate design approaches to meet production requirements and investigate solutions to problems.
• Develop technical documentation, manuals, and procedures and support testing and qualification.
