Job summary

Cajun Industries, LLC in Baton Rouge, LA, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support planning, design, and execution of mechanical projects for industrial facilities. You will develop technically sound solutions for new installations and modifications, working with project managers, designers, clients, vendors, and construction personnel through front-end engineering to detailed design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years experience in industrial facilities (preferred).
• Knowledge of fixed and rotating equipment.
• Familiarity with ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, OSHA.
• Experience preparing equipment specs, data sheets, calculations, requisitions, and vendor evaluations.
• Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and vendor documentation.
• Experience with brownfield projects and field investigations preferred.
• Strong writing, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to visit project sites and perform field walkdowns.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, data sheets, and bid evaluations.
• Specify and evaluate fixed and rotating equipment and packaged systems.
• Review P&IDs, equipment layouts, vendor drawings, and other design documents.
• Prepare equipment specs and procurement packages per project requirements.
• Perform vendor proposal evaluations and recommend equipment.
• Review vendor drawings for compliance with specs and codes.
• Coordinate mechanical design with process, piping, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and construction disciplines.
• Ensure designs meet industry standards, client specs, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate with clients, vendors, and stakeholders on technical requirements and status.
• Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings.
• Maintain organized engineering documentation and support QA procedures.
• Manage multiple assignments to meet schedules and budgets.
