Job summary

IMEG in Ann Arbor, MI, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support moderate to complex projects across HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems. The role offers two career paths (Technical and Project Management) and a pathway to leadership within a 100% employee-owned firm.

You will mentor staff, perform design reviews, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while advancing energy-efficient design aligned with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 7 years minimum experience in building design consulting; 8 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems on moderate to complex projects.
• Create detailed designs, specs and calculations per codes and IMEG standards.
• Perform site assessments and generate technical analyses and reports.
• Mentor staff and resolve field issues with limited senior staff support.
• Coordinate with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information.
