Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II - Thermal Systems in High Ridge, MO to develop, test and analyze HVAC&R products for commercial and defense markets, including heat exchangers, rugged air conditioning, and air handling systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field.
• Comfortable writing and creating technical documentation.
• Competent using MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience designing HVAC&R equipment and fluid handling systems is desired.
• Software experience with MATLAB and process simulators (Aspen or CHEMCAD).

Responsibilities

• Support projects and proposals for HVAC&R equipment development and support.
• Perform heat transfer, thermodynamic, material & energy balance, and fluid system analysis.
• Support system design through flowsheet (P&ID) development.
• Refrigeration system analysis and component selection.
• Support testing, qualification, and documentation of prototypes and products.
• Create piping/plumbing layouts for equipment tests.
• Review customer specs for bids and compliant designs.
• Coordinate test schedules with lab, engineering and production.
