Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Union City, CA to join our Engineering Department as a hands-on design lead. You will own mechanical design from concept through permit to construction documentation and mentor junior engineers on project delivery.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in commercial construction, a Bachelor's in engineering, CA code knowledge, and proficiency with AutoCAD and HVAC systems. PE license preferred; we value collaboration and high-quality installations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in the commercial construction sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems, installation standards, and CA codes.

Responsibilities

• Technical ownership: design through permit issuance and construction documentation.
• Lead design execution: set design parameters, size equipment, define control strategies.
• Design and troubleshoot air-side and water-side mechanical systems.
• QA/QC to ensure designs meet standards and construction viability.
• Field integration: provide support during construction, review submittals, RFIs.
• Mentorship: guide junior engineers on project work and code compliance.

Education
