Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Alameda, CA to act as a hands-on technical lead for mechanical design, permitting, and construction documentation. You will own the design from concept through installation and will mentor the project team to ensure compliant, efficient systems.

You will leverage 7+ years in commercial construction, a bachelor’s in engineering, and knowledge of HVAC and codes.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in the commercial construction sector.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems and installation standards.
Knowledge of California and local building codes is essential.
Proficient in Carrier HAP, Trace 700, Energy Pro or similar software.
AutoCAD proficiency; Revit experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Technical Ownership: Manage the mechanical design process from design through permit issuance and final construction documentation.
Lead Design Execution: Establish design parameters, select systems, size equipment, and define control strategies.
System Design and Troubleshooting: Address air-side and water-side mechanical systems challenges.
QA/QC: Ensure designs meet standards and construction viability.
Field Integration: Support construction with submittals, RFIs, and site assessments.
Mentorship: Guide junior engineers on project work and code compliance.
