Job summary

Form Energy in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. You will design, prototype, and release components with a focus on manufacturability, weight, performance, and cost.

You’ll drive DFMEA, support supplier communications, and help transition designs to high-volume production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define interface requirements, own validation and testing, and participate in hands-on prototyping during line

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience releasing mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drafting; SolidWorks or CATIA preferred.
• Strong GD&T knowledge.
• Experience releasing products through production.
• Ability to balance performance, manufacturability, and cost.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and release components to meet performance and cost targets with manufacturability in mind.
• Drive design release process (CAD/BOM, change management, documentation) and lead DFMEA development and risk mitigations.
• Manage supplier communications and transition designs from prototype to high-volume production.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define interface requirements and integrated solutions.
• Own validation and compliance testing for component performance and reliability.
• Support line bring-up with hands-on fabrication and testing of prototypes.
