Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
  • 4 years of post-baccalaureate experience in mechanical design engineering-related occupation.
  • 4 years of experience with 3D CAD and 2D drafting using SolidWorks or a similar program.
  • 4 years of experience designing and optimizing models for manufacturing and cost-down.
  • 4 years of experience with a variety of manufacturing processes, including electronics assembly, sheet metal assembly, and welding.
  • 2 years of experience with fabrication techniques including sheet metal and CNC machining.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype mechanical and electro-mechanical module components that meet performance and functional requirements, optimizing for manufacturability, performance, material weight, and cost.
  • Guide critical vendor engagements, and transition system designs from prototype to high-volume production in collaboration with manufacturing engineers.
  • Co-develop interface requirements and designs working with the Cell Design and Enclosure Design teams.
  • Perform compliance studies and testing for module components.
  • Participate in line bring up builds, fabricating, and testing first-of-a-kind prototypes to validate system design choices.
  • Create system-level functional requirements from product-level requirements.
