Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead packaging, thermal, and structural design of high-power electrical systems such as inverters, converters, and energy storage solutions. You will develop cooling systems, enclosures, and packaging architectures for dense power electronics, applying FEA/CFD, rapid prototyping, and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Total 10+ years in mechanical design for electrical equipment and high-power systems.
• 3D CAD experience with Windchill/Creo and multiple CAE tools.
• Experience with insulation, creepage, clearance, and electronics packaging basics.
• Experience designing enclosures and manufacturable assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements and develop mechanical/thermal specs for high-power converter systems across industries.
• Lead system architecture and trade studies influencing components, materials, and packaging.
• Own thermal management strategy including heat sinks, cold plates, and heat exchangers.
• Perform and guide FEA/CFD modeling to evaluate cooling, structural integrity, and thermal stress.
• Develop and validate cooling loop hardware and thermal solutions through testing and simulation.
• Design electromechanical assemblies such as ruggedized enclosures, busbars, connectors, and mounting systems.
• Ensure designs meet high-voltage safety, EMI, shock/vibration, and environmental requirements.
• Create and execute test plans, oversee prototypes, and correlate test data with simulations.
• Drive DFM/ DFA, manage BOMs and documentation, support manufacturing and supplier quality.
• Collaborate across electrical, systems, controls, and test teams; mentor junior engineers.
