Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a senior Power Electronics Engineer to design and simulate electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects of high‑performance converters. You will specify components, document assembly and commissioning instructions, and lead cross‑functional teams across design and manufacturing.

The role involves designing new VSIs (IGBT/SiC) and Thyristor converters, and developing control algorithms using P80i, with MATLAB, Simulink, PLECS, and PSPICE for validation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; six years in power electronics hardware design or controls development.
• Experience with VFD systems including design, testing, and commissioning; end-to-end project execution lifecycle.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Simulink, and PLECS/PSPICE for design and validation.
• Experience leading junior team members and applying lean methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Simulate and design electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects of power electronics converters.
• Specify electrical/mechanical components and create documentation for manufacturing and commissioning.
• Lead cross-functional teams with design and manufacturing to deliver robust solutions.
• Design new VSIs (IGBT/SiC) and Thyristor converters; ensure high performance in harsh environments.
• Develop control algorithms using P80i and validate with MATLAB/Simulink/PLECS/PSPICE.
