Job summary

RISE Robotics in Somerville is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead electro‑mechanical design across product development for DoD and commercial partners. You will shepherd concepts from proof of concept to prototypes, performing analyses and design reviews to drive manufacturability and cost efficiency.

The role emphasizes 10+ years of design experience, 3D CAD proficiency (SolidWorks), GD&T, and hands-on fabrication. Onsite 4+ days/week with potential hybrid options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with electro‑mechanical design and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop proof of concept demonstration systems from requirements, concept design, engineering, analysis, through prototype testing and product demonstration.
• Progress mechanical systems through design gates via trade off studies, analysis, and design reviews.
• Direct activities to solve complex design and manufacturing challenges; support cost reduction and yield improvement.
• Plan and perform statistical analyses to characterize process and design interactions.
• Generate best practices guidelines and documentation for future hardware development.
