Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of rugged military and commercial hardware. You will oversee electromechanical assemblies, contribute to 3D CAD modeling, and guide teams through design reviews from concept to production at our Franklin, MA facility.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical design, DoD program experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 5–12 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Experience in all phases of design/development (concept to production).
  • Experience in processing Engineering Changes to documentation on DoD programs.
  • Proficient with metal fabrication design and electromechanical hardware.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling (CREO and/or SolidWorks).
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 drawing and tolerancing.
  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint proficiency.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on mechanical design support for pre-production and production programs.
  • Electromechanical design, layout, and modeling of assemblies and robotic systems.
  • Lead design tasks and oversee design documentation reviews.
  • Design hardware using 3D CAD tools.
  • Interface with vendors and customers on engineering matters.
  • Participate in cost estimation for development programs.
  • Support design reviews and provide guidance to engineers.
