Job summary

Generac Power Systems Inc. is seeking a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to design and document machinery projects, interpret write-ups, and prepare fabrication drawings and plans for shop and supplier production.

You will monitor projects through completion, perform calculations, coordinate with electrical engineers, and support sales, production and testing. A BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and hands-on CAD experience are required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical OR Electrical Engineering or related discipline; 3 months of related work experience.
• Experience with Windchill PLM; structural sheet metal and wind load calculations are a plus.
• Knowledge of diesel and natural gas engines; data center industry experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, ProE, SolidWorks) and MS Office; strong communication; multi-tasking and travel willingness.

Responsibilities

• Complete project design on time within estimated hours and material costs.
• Research and order parts on time.
• Start designing early to meet production build date.
• Pull from existing drawings.
• Monitor project through completion.
• Provide practical, functional equipment designs.
• Read and interpret specifications, write ups, pricing and correspondence.
• Discuss unresolved engineering questions with sales for clarification.
• Ensure the design matches customer expectations.
• Perform calculations and analysis.
• Use spreadsheets and other software applications for calculations and analysis.
• Provide technical assistance to production, testing and sales.
• Create submittal and approval drawings when needed.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers regarding switchgear and cabling.
• Discuss design with electrical engineer for clarification.
